Narrative photography that not only shows where youโre heading, but above all what you experience along the way.
A journey is more than just a destination. It is about the people, the encounters, the adventures and the little moments that, together, make up the story.
As a narrative photographer, I capture those moments in images that are not only pleasing to look at, but also give travellers an idea about what they can actually experienc during their trip.
Selling a destination doesnโt start with the landscape

An impressive landscape shows where someone is heading. But it doesnโt tell you what itโs actually like to be there.
It is precisely these images that are valuable to travel organisations. The traveller stepping out of a 4×4, buzzing with adrenaline. The guide pointing out something lurking in the savannah grass. An unexpected encounter with street vendors along the way. A heart-warming meal at a local cafรฉ after a long dayโs travel. Or that thrilling moment when someone spots a leopard in the wild for the first time ever.
Thatโs why I donโt just photograph the destination, but the story behind it.
From destination to experience

A journey, told through images
A good travel feature doesnโt just show what a traveller has seen. It should make you feel as though you were there yourself. Or better still: that youโd like to experience it for yourself.

Visuals that go beyond your website or social media
A single trip offers much more than just a few lovely photos for a travel website or social media channels. With a comprehensive photo report, youโll have a visual library that not only captures the travel story in greater depth, but which you can also use over a longer period of time.
Website โ Hero images, destination pages, travel guides and blogs.
Social media โ Instagram, Stories, LinkedIn, campaigns and adverts.
Brochures and roadbooks โ Powerful images that come to life even beyond online channels.
PR and storytelling โ Travel stories, news articles, press releases and content marketing.
From a single trip to a comprehensive image library
For a travel photo assignment, Iโll work with you in advance to think through the story you want to tell and the images needed to bring it to life. During the trip, Iโll photograph both the planned highlights and the spontaneous moments that canโt be scripted.
Possible elements of an assignment:
- hero images
- horizontal and vertical images (landscape and portrait orientation)
- travellers and interaction
- destinations and landscapes
- activities
- accomodation
- local gatherings
- details and atmosphere
- spontaneous moments
- images with space for text
- social-first photography
Iโm coming along, without taking charge of the journey
My aim is not to stage a journey. I want to capture what actually happens on the road.
Thatโs why I move with the rhythm of the trip and try to intervene as little as possible in the moment. I pay attention to the major events, but also to the small moments in between.
In this way, I create a visual story that feels natural and in which travellers recognise themselves and their experiences.
I know what itโs like to be on the move
I enjoy travelling off the beaten track myself and am used to taking photographs on the go in a variety of conditions. From self-drive trips through Botswana to photo reports in Uganda, Myanmar, Iceland, Oman and Kyrgyzstan.
Thatโs why I know that the most beautiful images donโt always come about when you expect them to. Sometimes it happens along a dusty road, during an unexpected encounter at a local market, or precisely when nothing at all is planned.

Face to face with the mountain gorillas of Bwindi
A photo essay documenting a remarkable journey through Ugandaโs dense rainforest, in search of the mountain gorillas. From the long trek through the forest to those special moments when you suddenly find yourself face to face with a gorilla.

The rhythm of Oman
A photo feature on tradition, trade and daily life at and around the goat market in Nizwa.

More than just a report? Letโs come up with a story
Some examples of concepts for social media channels or a website:
A journey in seven moments โ A complete journey told through seven images. From setting off and being on the road to encounters, adventure and the moment when you realise: this is why we set out.

First time for everything โ The first safari. The first night under the stars. The first meeting with a local guide. Your first time on a mountain summit. Photography capturing the moments travellers will never forget.

Behind the destination โ Donโt just show where the journey is heading, but also what happens along the way. The people, the preparations, the details and the unexpected moments that make the travel story complete.

Does your travel company have a trip or campaign for which youโre looking for something different? Iโd be happy to help come up with a visual concept.
Your journey deserves a visual story
Do you have a destination, trip or campaign that tells a story beyond just where youโre heading?
Iโd be happy to help you think about how we can bring that journey to life visually.
